Step Description Expected Duration
1 The VAV terminal unit, the actuator and the electric/pneumatic control component are maintenance-free with regard to wear, but the VAV terminal unit must still be included in the regular cleaning of the ventilation system. Regular care and maintenance ensure opera-tional readiness, functional reliability, and long service life of the VAV terminal unit. 15.0 minute
2 Danger of electric shock! Do not touch any live com-ponents! Electrical equipment carries a dangerous electrical voltage. Only skilled qualified electricians are allowed to work on the electrical system. Switch off the power supply before working on any electrical equipment. 15.0 minute
3 Remove contamination that affects the function of the terminal unit, especially in the area of sensor tubes and measuring probes. 15.0 minute
4 Check all screws for firm seating and retighten them, if necessary. 15.0 minute
5 Check electrical feeder cables for damage and firm seating in the terminals. 15.0 minute
6 Calibrate the zero point of the differential pressure transducer, see the documentation for the elec-tronic control component. 15.0 minute
7 Test the control functions (including volume flow rate) and correct the set operating parameters, if necessary. 15.0 minute
8 Check if the measured values are plausible. 15.0 minute
9 Check special functions (override controls, alarm suppression on monitoring systems) and make corrections, if necessary. 15.0 minute
Step Description Expected Duration
1 Check sequence control functions (room bal-ancing) and make corrections, if necessary. 15.0 minute
2 Document maintenance measures and measure-ment results. 15.0 minute
Step Description Expected Duration
3 Check the installation situation 15.0 minute
4 a. Accessibility to the VAV terminal unit and the control component sufficient? 15.0 minute
5 b. Specified direction of air flow has been maintained? 4.4 ‘Direction of airflow’ on page 15 15.0 minute
6 c. Required upstream section maintained? Chapter 4.5 ‘Upstream conditions’ on page 16 15.0 minute
7 d. Installation orientation of control component main-tained, depending on transmitter type of control component (observe installation orientation sticker. on page 15 15.0 minute
8 e. Differential pressure measuring hoses undamaged and kink-free? 15.0 minute
9 Only for VAV terminal units for pressure control 15.0 minute
10 a. Selection of a suitable pressure measuring point 15.0 minute
11 b. Selection of a suitable pressure reference as comparison value (reference room with stable pressure conditions, with a constant atmospheric pressure) 15.0 minute
12 c. Select the measuring range of the pressure transducer with sufficient reserve. The measuring range must allow the detection of the nominal pressure range plus an appropriate tolerance. 15.0 minute
13 d. The following applies in particular to room pressure control systems 15.0 minute
14 (1) Sufficient cross section of the pressure meas-uring tubing, in particular when using ring ducts for the reference pressure (2) The pressure-controlled rooms must be suffi-ciently tight to be able to build up the desired room pressure.(3) The pressure-controlled rooms must allow an air transfer flow so that the room pressure can be regulated. (At least 10% of the total extract air of the room to air transfer flow.) (4) All doors and seals must be installed and holes must be closed in the walls in order to commission the rooms that are to be controlled. 15.0 minute
15 Check system readiness 15.0 minute
16 a. Fan switched on? 15.0 minute
17 b. Sufficient pre charge pressure available at the VAV terminal unit, i.e. minimum differential pressure according to data sheet complied with? 15.0 minute
18 c. Fire dampers/shut-off devices opened in the duct section? 15.0 minute
19 Check control component (for additional details see commissioning instructions for control component) 15.0 minute
20 a. Wiring error-free and supply voltage within tolerance zone? 15.0 minute
21 b. Characteristic curve of the setpoint value control suitable for the control component or its parameteri-zation? 15.0 minute
22 c. Zero point correction performed on control compo-nents with static transducer? 15.0 minute
23 d. If necessary, adapt the actuators again (only required for certain control components) 15.0 minute
24 Check control operation 15.0 minute
25 a. Setpoint control within the control range of the VAV terminal unit and its control component 15.0 minute
26 b. Check operating point at Vmin; if necessary, tempo-rarily disconnect external setpoint setting to prevent influence of external control and only check the con-troller itself at operating point Vmin. 15.0 minute
27 c. Check the operating point at Vmax; check the direc-tion of rotation of the damper blade in each case. 15.0 minute
28 d. Check damper blade position relative to the setpoint value; if the damper blade is fully open, the setpoint value is not reached. This is an indicator for an inad-equate differential pressure. Damper blade position detection, see 3.3 ‘Position of the damper blade’ on page 14 15.0 minute
29 Room situation (pressure conditions and air transfer behaviour). The overall situation in the room depends on many factors, in particular: 15.0 minute
30 a. Supply air volume flows and their tolerance zone 15.0 minute
31 b. Extract air volume flows and their tolerance zone 15.0 minute
32 c. Tightness of the room and size of air transfer open-ings - Type of control components used (control speed) and their activation 15.0 minute
33 d. Type of the selected leading control concept, control based on volume flow or pressure 15.0 minute
34 Note: The planning concept and not the individual VAV terminal unit is decisive for achieving compliance with the desired room situation. Even if the technical data of the installed air terminal units are complied with, the desired room situation can only be achieved if the nec-essary components have been selected during the plan-ning phase, taking into account the requirements. 15.0 minute
